Money Saving Addendum: The Prego eGo?
This is an Addendum to the original Crash Course in Vaping series that could save you some money in the long run. This is the set-up that I wish had been around when I first started, because I could have save some cash in the long run.Occasionally referred to as the "Prego eGo" but more commonly known as an JoyeTech 18650 eGo-T2, this is technical considered a Tube Mod. And while I don't normally advocate any sort of Mod for someone brand new, this is the exception.
MOD: Any PV that is considered a modification beyond the original e-Cigarette forms, usually with a removable battery. Some folks think of only hand-made custom pieces as being considered a Mod. But many others feel that anything past a 510 Mini or an eGo is a Mod. Still others feel that all PVs are Mods of one type or another. I consider it a Mod if the battery is removable.
Created by JoyeTech to capitalize on the growing Mod market here in the states, the 18650 eGo-T2 looks a lot like the familiar eGo, with one very big difference - the battery is removable.
The reason that this is an important difference is that this set-up allows you to purchase multiple AW IMR 18650 batteries, and a charger for much less than buying multiple standard eGo batteries.
The unit has 2 pieces, a Tube and a Control Head. You MUST have both pieces to have a working unit. So be aware that when you purchase this unit, that some vendors sell the 2 pieces separately, allowing you the freedom to pick out your tube color. You will also need a Protected 18650 2000mah battery for this unit. If found in a kit it may come with a standard eGo fast charge USB cord and wall plug to charge the Mod, or you may need to them up separately.
This mod can be charged using a standard eGo fast charge USB cord and wall plug. However in addition to the Tube, the Control Head, and Battery you can also pick up...
More Batteries: You will need 2 or more PROTECTED AW IMR 18650, with a mah rating between 2000mah - 2600mah. I do not care if you find a kit, and it's a great deal, but came with an unprotected battery... YOU WILL STILL BUY NEW PROTECTED AW IMR 18650 BATTERIES. Seriously, if I hear of you using unprotected batteries in any of your Mods I will come through your computer screen and slap the snot out of you.
ALWAYS USE PROTECTED BATTERIES!
Battery Charger: Get a TrustFire TR-001 MultiFunction Charger, or something similar. This will allow you recharge your Li-on Rechargable batteries. NO, You will NOT try to charge anything but Li-on Rechargeable batteries. Again slapping will ensue if you dare to put anything else in this charger.
NOTE: Never, ever, charge batteries of ANY sort when you are not around to keep an eye on them. This goes for everything, from the 18650 batteries down to your standard eGo or 510 mini.
Why are you buying extra batteries and a charger? Because you will be able to charge your spare batteries while you are using your PV Mod. Considering that a 2-pack of 18650 AW IMR 2000mah batteries can be picked up for as little as $14.99, you can see the cost saving when comparing it to picking up a single regular eGo battery at the cost of $14.00 - $20.00 each. After charging the batteries, you can simply swap out the batteries in the tube, and you are ready to go.
Since I do not own one of these, I have no photos to post of the unit itself. However, if you do a Google search for JoyeTech 18650 eGo-T2 should quickly reveal some photos for you take a gander at.
Once Again - SHOP AROUND!
One Last Note: If you have the cash, picking up an extra Control Head is recommended. The Tube portion of this Mod will most likely never fail you. But the Control Head could. Save yourself some heartache and frustration, and keep an extra Control Head on hand, and you won't have to worry about not having a working Mod when you need it.
